This year during the Festival of lard, bread, and sausages in Vinnytsia a huge sandwich with bacon in the form of Vinnytsia region was prepared. The preparation of this record sandwich took about 60 kg of bread, 25 kg of bacon, five cans of horseradish, as well as paprika and garlic. For this purpose, a boar in the village of Pykiv, Kalynivka district, was bought, which was grown without any chemical additives. Salo (pork lard) was made according to ancient technology: it was smoked in straw that to give it an incredible taste. A sandwich in the form of a map of Vinnytsia region was more than 5 square meters in size.
This information inspired our experts to calculate the value of Ukrainian traditional sandwich – rye bread with salo. To prepare a Ukrainian burger, you need to cut bread and salo into pieces – 40 g each. For today, this delicious sandwich will cost us an average of 12 cents.
Last year, the "Ukrainian burger" cost us 8,5 cents. It turns out that for a year it has risen in price by 42%. For today, the most expensive "Ukrainian burger" is in Kyiv – 18 cents, and the cheapest is in Ternopil region – 8 cents. That is, the difference is more than twice. Salo with black bread is, without exaggeration, the gastronomic pride of Ukraine.
