In terms of the previous conflicts on the territory of Ukraine, Russian Federation has positioned itself as a "peacemaker" and a country that supports Russian-speaking citizens (in Crimea and Donbas), allegedly they themselves choose their future political course. This time, the Russian Federation violated a number of international treaties, including the UN Charter and the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea.

Some EU countries, for example, Germany replace the highlights from Ukraine to a safety component of the whole of Europe. However, due to the difficult political situation in Germany, it is torn apart by the internal contradictions. This is due to the weakening of Merkel's position, harsh political statements even of the teammates (Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer) about the possibility of closing of the EU and the US ports for Russian ships, which come from from the Sea of Azov, and tensed situation with Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline project. More restrained, but unanimous were the reactions of Canada, Poland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, and France.

Of the most substantive and frank reactions was voiced by the UK that "we see Russia neglecting international norms and Ukrainian sovereignty again."

The official position of Washington has not been received yet (except for statements by individual congressmen and politicians), but according to the unofficial data, the reaction will be quite tough and, as a result, will lead to the more targeted sanctions against the Russian Federation. The thesis about the harsh reaction of the State Department is confirmed by D. Trump’s words: "Based on the fact that the ships and sailors have not been returned to Ukraine from Russia, I have decided it would be best for all parties concerned to cancel my previously scheduled meeting," ( 11/29/18) and the refusal of an official meeting with V. Putin during the G20 Summit.

The European Union was among the first to show the reaction, among other things, it indicated that the events in the Sea of Azov are a demonstration that tensions will only grow if the Russian Federation does not take into account the basic rules of international cooperation.

At the meeting of the UN Security Council, the Under-Secretary-General for Political Affairs of the United Nations Rosemary DiCarlo urged Russia and Ukraine to prevent escalation of the conflict in Kerch Strait. The members of the UN Security Council rejected Russia’s proposal to invite the representatives of the occupied Donbas to participate in the session of the Council on Ukraine.

At the same time, we have high hopes for a consolidated position of the EU, the UK, and the US on imposing of new sanctions against the Russian Federation due to the aggression against Ukraine. And given the introduction of martial law in Ukraine, one can also hope for some kind of technical support, including lethal weapons. Since, as stated in the statement of Germany, this aggression of the Russian Federation might further affect the security of the whole of Europe.

Summing up, we can denote the following paradigm. So,

- the “wave of populism” continues to sweep across the EU and this is a significant challenge for this institution. Against the background of Brexit, political and economic instability and misinformation (with the support of the media, which is funded from the Russian Federation), the events in the Sea of Azov gave a significant impetus to a real understanding of things. Russia has never fulfilled and does not intend to fulfill the international treaties, and therefore is an uncontrollable, unpredictable partner; 2) The direct aggression of the Russian Federation in the region of the Sea of Azov is a sign of an aggressive attitude and unwillingness to lower the degree of escalation of the conflict with Ukraine; 3) Nord Stream 2 issue is a strategic one, as it is a matter of security one for the whole EU.

- D. Trump has his own understanding... Aggravation of the problem of migrants flows from Mexico, the discovery of juicy details (Cohen confessed in his guilty plea that he lied to Congress about the Moscow real estate deal he pursued on Trump's behalf during the heat of the 2016 Republican campaign. He said he lied to be consistent with Trump's “political messaging”) significantly damaged Trump’s positions. The story of D. Trump's reaction to the aggression of the Russian Federation is not as straightforward as official representatives submit.

November 29, Donald Trump has canceled his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin two days before they were scheduled to sit down on the sidelines of the G20 summit in Argentina.

The policy of double standards and terry populism is a real picture of the modern world. The beneficiaries are those who do not follow any common rules...
