The President's Office is considering the possibility of introducing ration cards in Ukraine for the most vulnerable segments of the population, adviser to the President of Ukraine on economic issues Oleh Ustenko reported in an interview to BBC.

This is a system similar to that in the United States. In the United States, money for food is issued on plastic cards. In Ukraine, the program can be implemented with the help of the Diya app.

"First and foremost, the most vulnerable groups must be supported. How? Options will be considered. It may be achieved by additional payments to compensate for rising prices, and the introduction of food stamps in the Diya system - the so-called ration cards, as is practiced in the United States," Ustenko said.

Former acting Minister of Economy Pavlo Kukhta, in turn, did not rule out that due to rising gas prices more than six times a year, food stamps may appear in 2022.

As it was reported, in 2021 world grain prices reached their highest level since 2012 and exceeded 2020 by 27.2%.

It was also previously reported that prices for agricultural products in 2022 will increase by a quarter.
