President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has declared that he will defend the interests of the country in the matter of the appeal to the PrivatBank's nationalization case by its former shareholders but does not intend to interfere the proceedings directly. Zelensky said this during a press marathon broadcasted by 112 Ukraine TV Channel.
"In the PrivatBank case, I will defend our country, the interests of the state of Ukraine. To be honest, I have not ever called any of the judges in my life, no one. I talked to them, but not in the way of a telephone conversation, even though I, as a person, have a lot of questions for our court, but I have no right to influence," Zelensky said.
As we reported earlier, on April 18, Kyiv District Administrative Court has satisfied the claim of Ihor Kolomoisky to the National Bank of Ukraine and the Cabinet of Ministers on the nationalization of PrivatBank. Thus, the nationalization of the bank was declared illegal.
The court decision states that the National Bank of Ukraine and the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine were not able to provide sufficient proof of the PrivatBank's insolvency.
Then the court ruled on another decision in favor of the former owners of PrivatBank and canceled Kolomoisky's suretyship for the loans of PrivatBank.
As we reported earlier, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky will take part in a press marathon on October 10. According to the press service of the President, the event will start at 10:00 a.m. at Kyiv Food Market.
Zelensky will be answering journalists' questions throughout the day. Media representatives will be asking him questions in groups of 7-10 people. Groups will change each other every half an hour. They will be formed according to the accreditation list.
