World Bank President Jim Young Kim announced his resignation from the post on February 1. He wrote about this on a Twitter page.
According to the official, it was a great honor for him to lead an institution where the employees devotedly pursue the goal of eradicating poverty.
The bank’s website says that after February 1, Jim Yong Kim will start to work for a company that specializes in infrastructure projects investments in developing countries. The name of this company is not specified. Besides, Jim Yong Kim intends to re-join the board of the "Partners in Health" international non-governmental organization.
He will leave three and a half years before the expiry of his term in 2022.
Kim’s decision to quit for the private sector was described by sources close to the bank as a sudden and “personal decision” that surprised its shareholders, the 189 nations that support its work.
