Vice President of the European Commission for Energy Union Maros Sefcovic will arrive in Kyiv with work visit as the Delegation of the European Union to Ukraine.
He will hold the meetings with the Ukrainian officials. He will deliver a speech on the geopolitical aspects of the energy policy at the annual meeting of the Yalta European Strategy.
‘The vice president would like to discuss the issue on the development of the reforms in the energy sector, Naftogaz reforms and gas transportation. The path searching for further development of the cooperation between the EU and Ukraine in the context of the Energy Union is one of his goals’, the message said.
Sefcovic will meet Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman, Vice Prime Ministers Gennady Zubko, Volodymyr Kistion, Minister of Energy Igor Nasalyk and Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin. Also, he will consider the issue of the reforms in the energy sector with the members of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Energy and Chairman of governing board of Naftogaz Andry Kobolev.
Sefcovic noted before the visit that ‘The European Union strongly supports the reforms of Ukraine in the energy sector. They are the key points for the modernization of the economy. Both consumers and enterprises will stand to gain from it. I expect the discussion with the Ukrainian governance towards our next steps. We should use all potential of Ukraine in the sphere of energy efficiency, energy and gas transportation’.
