USA suggests that Ukraine should abandon its plans to sell Motor Sich to Chinese investors and consider other buyers. It was stated by Temporary U.S. Charge d’Affaires in Ukraine William Taylor during a conversation with reporters, which took place in Kyiv on December 26, European Pravda reports.
"Investors are now in search, and there are already several companies, both American and non-American, that are interested. There is a real interest, due diligence and visits to the factory are already underway. The financial situation is also being checked," Taylor said.
The diplomat believes that Ukraine "has a good chance to review the option” of selling Motor Sich, and the reason for this may be the financial condition of a Chinese company, which showcased its desire to buy Ukrainian entity.
Taylor pointed to the occurrence of information about problems regarding the buyer of other Chinese companies.
Temporary U.S. Charge d’Affaires also stressed that there are other companies are interested in buying Motor Sich.
As we reported earlier, Erik Prince, a private security contractor and informal adviser to U.S. President Donald Trump, is in discussions to purchase a Ukrainian aerospace manufacturer Motor Sich, which the U.S. is trying to prevent China from buying, according to officials briefed on the matter, according to the Wall Street Journal.
Trump's administration has approached Mr. Prince and at least one other potential buyer from the private sector about Motor Sich, a U.S. official said. In recent weeks, Mr. Prince has discussed the company with Ukrainian officials and visited the company’s main plant, according to people briefed on the matter.
