Ukrzaliznytzya will expand the number of international ticket offices in order to meet the increased demand for travel to countries of the European Union, acting chairman of the corporation has announced on his Twitter, reported by Interfax-Ukraine.
The expansion of the international ticket office will begin with the regional branch of Donetsk Railways.
“The number of international ticket offices will expand in 2018. We are going to start with Donetsk Railways. Instead of Donetsk and Luhansk, ticket offices will open in Mariupol, Kramatorsk, Slovyansk, Pokrovska, Rubizhne and Lysychansk. Ukrzaliznytzya now connects Ukraine with seven countries of the European Union,” he said.
According to Kravtsov, international routes between Ukraine and the EU carried 5.5 times more passengers in 2017 than in the previous year. In the first eleven months of 2017, 205,000 passengers chose to travel internationally by train.
“In the passenger train timetable for 2017-2018 the network of routes to European countries will grow. Routes to Hungary, Slovakia, Poland, Romania, Bulgaria, Austria and the Czech Republic (with a transfer at Kosice for train #240 Kosice-Prague) will be available. We are in cooperation with representatives of foreign railway companies in order to create offer online ticket sales for international trains. Currently we are figuring out the regulatory and technical issues,” Kravtsov said.
Ukrzaliznytzya reminded the list of available trains operation on the Ukraine-EU route. They include train #67/68 Kyiv-Warsaw (daily, fast), #35/36 Odesa-Przemysl (daily, fast), #705/706 Kyiv-Przemysl (daily, Intercity+), #51/52 Lviv-Przemysl (daily, fast), #753/754 Kovel-Chelm (daily, regional), Kyiv-Kosice, Kyiv-Budapest-Vienna, Kyiv-Bucharest, Kyiv-Varna.
