The acting chairman of the board Ukrzaliznytsya Yevhen Kravtsov ensured that the increased fares will be accompanied by improvements in the services the operator offers, UNIAN reports.

"Of course it will”, (service will improve). Thanks to the fare increase, we are going to obtain some UAH 400-500 million ($15.3-19 million) this year. At the same time, we have planned capital investment of around UAH 5 billion ($192.3 million) in passenger operations. When it comes to the cars themselves, we are thinking about 200 new and rebuilt carriages that will be launched in 2018. That is more than 10 warehouses full of carriages.

The new cars, whether brand new or rebuilt, may become the driver for improved customer service. It was a lot harder to achieve with the old carriages”, - Kravtsov said.
