Wexler Group, one of the biggest diesel fuel and oil suppliers, stated that it suspended the oil supply to Ukraine from Russia by pipeline transport since August 1. 41% of the entire amount of fuel and oil was transported by this pipeline, as the investigational article informs.
According to the experts surveyed by journalists, the existing problem shows Ukraine still has not reached the energy security yet. The country’s government should find ways to compensate for the market volume.
“The problem is we relied on Russia for a long time. And when the problem appears, we get the oil crisis. We can purchase fuel oil in any country, for example Belarus or Turkey, the market in Azerbaijan is also very prospective. But there is a question: what the price will be and on what conditions the supplies will be held,” the economic expert explained.
According to him, it is important not to delay this situation any further, but to try to solve the issue as soon as possible, raising it on the highest state level.
“If we speak about oil supplies by railway then let me remember that Ukrazaliznytsia is the state organization subordinated to the government. Thus, the governments should solve this problem. The same for the Ministry of Infrastructure. These two organizations under the direction of the Preisdent of Ukraine have to create the plan for emerging from that situation. This issue needs to be solved on the state level,” the economist said.
The interruption of the diesel fuel oil supplies from Russia coincide with the harvest season. As it was reported earlier, the record cereal harvest is expected this year in Ukraine.
