The price of the gas for the population in Ukraine has been reduced to 6.99 hryvnias (0.25 USD) per 1 cubic meter. Denys Shmygal, the Prime Minister reported that at the session of the Cabinet.
"Such price will be acting until the end of the heating season or until the end of the quarantine. Gas suppliers won't be able to increase the price higher than UAH 6.99 per cubic meter", Shmygal said.
He added that the decision will let the government cut the gas price for Ukrainians by 30 percent on average.
"I'll stress that the price set by the government is 1.5 hryvnias lower than the one set in 2018-2019. In the winter months of these years, the average bill made 2,500-3,000 hryvnias (USD 88-106), or 75 percent from the-then minimal salary. The price that we set means that under the same consumption rate, the average bill will be cheaper by USD 17.75. And it will make some 40 percent from the minimal salary", Shmygal said.
On January 13, Naftogaz-Ukraine claimed it was ready to provide gas consumers with the fuel costing 0.25 dollars per cubic meter - until the end of the heating season.
