“Gazprom supposes difficult season for pumping of gas to Europe this summer. Once more we confirm the readiness to provide extra capacities for transit of the gas from Russia to the EU for the timely renewal of gas stock in the EU,” Makohon reported.
According to him, Gazprom has to appeal with the proper offer for an increase of the volumes of the contract and reserve extra capacities.
If Gazprom does not want to reserve extra capacities for transit, Gas Transmission System Operator offers an alternative decision – permission for European traders to receive gas at the border of Ukraine with Russia and transport it to Europe independently.
As we reported, Russian Gazprom reserved all offered transit capacities of Ukraine for May. All 15 million cubic meters per day were requested. Gazprom bought out a little less in April, March and February – 14.2 million cubic meters per day.
Besides, currently, Europe sharply increases the use of gas. The global supplies of the liquefied natural gas, as well as pipeline gas from Russia, stay at maximum but it does not allow to start mass pumping of gas to the underground storages to prepare for the next winter.
Earlier, head of Operator of Gas Transport System of Ukraine Serhiy Makohon stated that Gazprom has been gradually cutting the volumes of gas transit via Ukraine.
