Ukraine’s inflation rate rises to 2.7% in October

Compared to October 2019, Ukraine's price levels in October increased by 2.7%. This was reported by the State Statistics Service.

"Inflation in the consumer market in October 2020 amounted to 1.0%, compared to September 2020, since the beginning of the year - to 2.7%. Core inflation in October 2020 made 0.8%, compared to September 2020, since the beginning of the year - 3,4%,” reads the message.

Prices for food and soft drinks increased by 1.1%. Prices for alcoholic beverages and tobacco products rose by 0.9% over the month, which is due to the rise in prices for tobacco products by 1.8%.

Transport prices got higher by 0.2%. At the same time, the fare in railway passenger transport dropped by 5.0%.

As we reported earlier, the Ministry for Development of Economy, Trade and Agriculture estimated the decline in the gross domestic product of Ukraine (GDP) in the third quarter of 2020 at 3.6%.

In the first nine months of 2020, the GDP was expected to fall by 6.5%. The ministry stopped the forecast of GDP's decline in 2020 at 4.8%, and the forecast for the decline in the IV quarter - at 3%.
