The deepening of economic cooperation with China was among Ukraine’s major achievements in international trade in 2017. The Ministry of Economic Development and Trade said so in its statement published on its Facebook page, Xinhua reports.
According to the statement the ministry believes that the economic cooperation between China and Ukraine demonstrated substantial progress throughout 2017, with the two parties signing an action plan to jointly develop the Belt and Road Initiative.
China’s Vice Premier Ma Kai visited Kyiv in December 2017, which is a strong sign of the improved economic partnership between the two nations, the ministry stated.
The total trade volume between China and Ukraine grew by 18% in 2017 to reach $7.68 billion.
The ministry also listed its other important achievements in international trade that occurred in 2017. Among those was the launch of the free trade agreement with Canada, expansion of trade with members of the European Union and the progress of free trade talks with Israel and Turkey.
