The Ministry of Energy and Environmental Protection has fully paid off wage arrears to miners of the state-owned coal mines. Nevertheless, there are some debts related to the sale of coal products. It was stated by Olha Buslavets, the Ministry’s Acting Head, RBC-Ukraine reported.
"We managed to repay salary debts from the budget during this period. In just six months of this year, about three billion hryvnias (108 million dollars) were transferred to the state coal companies," Buslavets said.
Buslavets stressed that the remaining debts - more than 200 million hryvnias (7,2 million dollars) - would be repaid in the near future and would be returned from the sale of coal products.
In addition, according to Buslavets, the Ministry of Energy plans to modernize the coal mines in 2021.
As we reported earlier, on July 1, Ukraine's Energy Ministry additionally allocated almost 340 million hryvnias (12,7 million dollars) to repay debts to miners of state-owned mines.
"This means that for the first time in a long time the state has no debts to the miners of state-owned mines in the current mode,” the head of the Ukrainian government stated.
