“We have worked over the state budget for 2019 for a long time. According to my opinion, the financial resource provided in the budget for 2019 for defense, not security but defense is insufficient,” Poltorak said.
According to the minister, the funds are necessary for the purchase of the weapon and hardware and the infrastructure projects.
In his turn, Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman reported that he will send an offer from the Cabinet of Minister to the National Security and Defense Council on the basis of the demands of the defense minister for the further consideration of the possibility of reallocation of the funds for the defense. At the same time, he added that intends to order to hold an audit of all expenses of the Defense Ministry.
Earlier Oleksandr Tyrchynov, the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) claimed that the financing of the defense and security sector of Ukraine can reach $7.1 billion in 2019.
As we reported Viktor Muzhenko, the Head of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine claimed that the funding in the sum of at least $4 billion is needed for the army in 2019.
Earlier U.S. President Donald Trump signed the act which provides expenses on national defence in the amount of $716 billion. Moreover, the act provides allocation for Ukraine in the amount of $250 million for the defence sector.
