Ukrainian car manufacturers a total of 8586 vehicles, which is 63% higher than the 2016 figure. In particular, passenger car production expanded by 68.1% and produced a total of 7296 vehicles, Ukrautoprom announced.
According to the association’s preliminary data, which does not include the results of AutoKrAZ since August of last year, bus manufacturing grew by 2.5 times, having produced a total of 804 units. 486 commercial automobiles (excluding KrAZ trucks) were manufactured in Ukraine over the course of 2017.
Eurocar again tops the list of the most prolific car manufacturer in the country, as it assembled 6,145 of Skoda passenger cars, boasting a 56.1% increase from the 2016 level.
With a total 2017 output of 1,674 automobiles ZAZ came in second. The total figure consists of 1151 passenger cars, 479 commercial vehicles and 44 buses. The company’s total output in 2016 amounted to 526 automobiles across all types.
In addition to that, Cherkasky Avtobus boosted its bus production by 93% against 2016, having assembled 382 vehicles. Besides that, the corporation managed to slightly raise its output of commercial automobiles – 7 of these were assembled, compared to 5 a year earlier. Chasovoyarsky bus-making factory released 90 buses in 2017 (against 37 in 2016). At the same time, the Etalon Chernihiv automobile factory produced 178 buses (compared to a laughable 3 the year before), whereas Bogdan manufactured a total of 110 vehicles (considerable increase from last year’s 78).
Ukrautoprom outlines that the total monthly output of all Ukrainian manufacturers equaled 932 units in December, which is 37.5% higher than the December-2016 level, but at the same time 8.1% less than the figure recorded in last year’s November.
Passenger cars accounted for the majority of the overall industry output in December 2017 – 752 vehicles of this kind were released. Despite the fact that this figure is 16% lower than in November, it is nevertheless 39.3% higher than the output recorded in December 2016. Bus manufacturers altogether assembled 117 units in the month reported, which is 30% higher than the November level, as well as 42.7% higher than the December 2016 result.
Ukraine’s car manufacturing industry throughout 2016 shrank by 23.2% against its 2015 level and reached 4,340 units by the end of that year. The market was extremely volatile with Eurocar raising its output of Skoda cars by 94%, while production at ZAZ contracted by 89%. The level of bus output dropped 64.2% to reach 321 units, while comparative analysis of the commercial trucks segment became inaccurate once the results of AvtoKrAZ were taken out.
