Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has postponed the transition to market gas prices for the population for a month - from July 1 to August 1. This was announced by acting Minister of Energy and Environmental Protection Olha Buslovets at a briefing following a meeting of the government.

It is noted that the government has extended the PSO (Public Service Obligation - a special commitment that the government has applied to Naftogaz in order for it to sell gas to the population at discounted prices). It should expire on July 1, after which gas prices for the population are supposed to become market.

In addition, the Ministry of Energy has announced a tender to determine the supplier of "last hope", which will last until July 7.

The launch of the natural gas market for household consumers was initially scheduled for May 1, 2020, but the deadline was postponed to July 1 due to the lockdown restrictions that had been earlier imposed.

As we reported earlier, on May 27, the Ukrainian government approved a memorandum of cooperation with Louisiana Natural Gas Export Inc (LNGE), which considers the supply of American liquefied natural gas to Ukraine.
