Today, on August 5, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved the State Strategy for Regional Development for 2021-2027.
The draft act was developed by the Ministry of Regional Development, Construction, Housing and Communal Services.
The regional policy will focus on the following types of territories: mountainous territories of the Ukrainian Carpathians, the Black and Azov Seas, areas of influence of international transport corridors, border regions, including those that are in adverse conditions, nature reserves, urban agglomerations, economic growth centers, monofunctional urban settlements, and rural settlements.
The strategic goal of regional policy is to: form a cohesive country in social, humanitarian, economic, environmental, and spatial areas; increase the level of competitiveness of regions; build effective multilevel governance.
As we reported earlier, on July 29, the Ukrainian government endorsed the Forecast of Economic and Social Development of Ukraine for 2021-2023.
According to the forecast, in 2021, the country's gross domestic product will amount to 4,505.9 billion hryvnias/162.7 billion dollars (104.6% compared to the previous year).
