President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky held a phone talk with President of Finland Sauli Niinistö, stating that Ukraine and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) agreed on the new stand-by program for $5 billion for 18 months as the President’s Office reported.
"All the prerequisites for the beginning of practical work under the IMF program have been met, the fund's money is used to maintain the balance of payments and support the budget," the President said.
Zelensky also appealed to Niinistö with a request about further support of Ukraine in the cooperation with the international financial organizations.
As we reported, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine expects to receive the first tranche from the IMF in the amount of 1.9 billion dollars by the end of May.
Besides, during the press conference, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky stated that that the signature of a memorandum between Ukraine and the IMF would take place in May.
