The implementation of the restrictions on shipping traffic through the Kerch Strait due to the building of the bridge by Russia results in the losses of the Ukrainian ports. It will be contested judicially as the Deputy of the Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Yury Lavrenyuk claimed at the meeting of the trade unions of the sea and river ports.
‘The Ministry of Justice emphasizes the issue of the block of the Kerch Strait and implementation of the restrictions on shipping traffic within other lawsuits against Russia. We prepare the lawsuits and count the losses of the Mariupol and Berdyansk trade ports’ Lavrenyuk said.
He also added that the issue of the building of the Kerch Strait Bridge is under consideration of the Ministry of Infrastructure, Foreign Ministry and National Security and Defense Council.
‘It is a global, political and difficult issue but we will definitely solve it’, he said.
Also, the Ministry of Infrastructure initiates the decreasing of the norms of the net profit contribution of the state enterprises to the state budget from 75% to 50%. It will allow keeping more money for developing and renewing of the infrastructure.
The representatives of the trade unions expressed the dismay at the level of the wages, personnel appointments, corruption in the ports and the issues of the improvement works of the ports’ water areas and the order of the amends of the investments in the sea ports.
Lavrenyuk noted that the Ministry of Infrastructure together with the Sea Ports Administration of Ukraine and business association worked out the project of the investment amends and sent it to other government authorities for the agreement.
The Ministry of Transport of Russia intends to close the Kerch Strait for 23 days in August and September 2017.
The Deputy Minister added that such actions can inflict significant harm not only to the shipping traffic security but also to the national security of Ukraine.
The building of the Kerch Strait Bridge can cause the environmental disaster. According to the information of the Institute of Water Problems and Land Reclamation NAAS, the approximate losses to the environment in the cause of the building of the Kerch Strait Bridge will amount to 384 million of dollars.
Russia plans to start the work of the automobile part of the road until the end of 2018 and the railway part of the road until the end of 2019.
