The Ukrainian army ran tests of the new strike drone today. The unmanned vehicle called Phantom actually is a multi-functional mini-IFV, designed to fulfill various tasks for the Ground Forces. Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council reported that on December 9, after the tests at a firing range in Chernihiv region, northern Ukraine, were complete.
‘We checked its combat capacities in motionless mode and while driving; we’re satisfied with the result,’ the Council’s Secretary Olexandr Turchynov said.
According to the official, the IFV’s armament turned out to be working properly, too. The main gun, the anti-tank missile launcher and machinegun can be fired both from inside the vehicle and remotely, at a safe distance from it. That creates significant advantages during combat actions, specifically when defending positions,’ Turchynov said.
More tests will be held in spring 2017, the official added.
