Because of the actions of Gazprom, Ukraine sent a note to the EU on the use of an early warning mechanism for crisis situations in the energy sector. This was reported by Deputy Foreign Minister for European Integration Olena Zerkal in Facebook.

Also, Kyiv initiates negotiations in the Ukraine-EU-Russia format on ensuring the stability of gas supplies to Ukraine and the EU.

"Today's actions by Gazprom regarding the failure to fulfill its contractual obligations and the refusal to comply with the decision of the Stockholm Arbitration are a threat to the emergency situation in gas supplies to Ukraine and the EU. We only sent a note to the EU on the use of the mechanism for early warning of crisis situations in the energy sector under Article 340 and Annex 26 of the Agreement on the Association, and we also initiate tripartite negotiations in the Ukraine-EU-Russia format on ensuring the stability of gas supplies to Ukraine and the EU," said Zerkal.

On February 28, the Stockholm Arbitration Court satisfied Naftogaz's claims on the suit against Gazprom. Naftogaz achieved compensation in the amount of $ 4.63 billion for Gazprom's failure to deliver agreed volumes of gas for transit. Also, Gazprom must pay 2.56 billion dollars in favor of Naftogaz. For the debt an interest will be charged  - 526 thousand dollars a day, starting from March 1.

However, Gazprom does not agree with the decision of the Stockholm Arbitration to pay compensation to Naftogaz.
