Ukraine launches Apple Pay – finance minister

The official said the launch of the payment service is a sign of leading innovation companies’ interest in the Ukrainian market.

The Finance Minister of Ukraine Oleksandr Danylyuk said the nationalized Ukrainian bank Privatbank had launched the most prominent payment service worldwide – Apple Pay, UNIAN reports.

Apple Pay is in Ukraine!!! Privatbank launched the world’s most popular payment service in Ukraine today,” the minister wrote on his Facebook page on 17 May.

According to the official, the introduction of Apple Pay is a sign of the most innovative enterprises’ interest in the Ukrainian market.

“Using just their smartphones, thousands of Ukrainians will be able to pay and transfer funds online. It is extremely important for our nation to keep up with worldwide trends,” Danylyuk said.

Apple Pay is a mobile payment system that allows iPhone and Apple Watch users to pay for goods and services using NFC’s contactless technology, as well as online. Apple Pay is compatible with existing contactless readers such as VISA PayWave, MasterCard PayPass, American Express ExpressPay.
