September 21, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmygal held an online meeting with Director of the European Department of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Alfred Kammer, at which they discussed the cooperation of the official Kiev with the Fund. The press service of the government reports.
"The head of government said that a letter was sent to the Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund Kristalina Georgieva with an appeal to start the online mission in Ukraine," the message says.
In the near future the NBU expects the arrival of a mission of the International Monetary Fund to Kyiv, and also expects to receive a tranche from the IMF by the end of this year.
As we reported before, Ukrainian Finance Minister Serhiy Marchenko ruled out the possibility of default in Ukraine.
The minister cited the example of Argentina, which has defaulted for the 9th time.
"Do you think it is possible to deceive your neighbors 9 times? Is this a normal practice? I believe that even once if you do this, the next time they just won't open the door for you", said Marchenko.
