More than three quarters of Ukrainian citizens (77%) don’t favor the sale or alienation of agricultural land, according to the findings of an opinion poll taken by the survey research firm “Rating”, Interfax-Ukraine reports.
According to the results of an opinion poll published in the Interfax-Ukraine press center, one in ten respondents support the sale or alienation of agricultural land, another 13% failed to respond.
The sale or alienation of agricultural land was viewed most favorably in the Zakarpattya (17%) and Volyn (16%) regions and Kyiv city (15%).
The idea gained the least support in the Vynnytsya region (86% oppose it).
The opinion poll took place between 12 and 28 December 2017, asking opinions of Ukrainian citizens aged 18 and over. The selection was representative of gender, age, region and type of settlement. The sampled population was 30 thousand respondents (1,200 in each region), who were asked the question in a face-to-face interview. The non-sampling error of the poll does not exceed 0.6%.
The moratorium on the sale of agricultural land in Ukraine has been in place since 2002 and was recently extended until 1 January 2019. The bill gained support of 236 members of parliament.
