Minister of Energy and Environmental Protection of Ukraine Oleksiy Orzhel said that the tariff for the Russian gas transit will be increased. He said this at a press conference in the President's Office, 112 Ukraine reports.

"Given that we have a certain decrease in guaranteed volumes of transportation, the parties understand that the tariff should increase. That is, there will be a certain increase in the transportation tariff," said the minister.

A specific tariff, he said, will be calculated on the basis of European methodologies for determining tariffs.

We recall, yesterday, December 20, representatives of the European Commission, Ukraine and the Russian Federation reached a final agreement on the gas contract.

According to Orzhel, Ukraine and Russia agreed on a five-year gas transit contract with the possibility of extension for up to 10 years.

Earlier he announced that Ukraine, within the framework of package agreements, will withdraw all gas claims against Russia; this decision does not apply only to the Stockholm arbitration.

“We will resolve the issue of future arbitrations. This is a potential win, but we already have a vision of what transit arrangements are, so in this case a package solution involves a review of positions regarding future arbitrations. That is, a decision on 3 billion is clearly defined, decisions on others will be recalled directly within the package," - he said.
