Switzerland’s Supreme Court refuses Russia to cancel Ukrnafta's compensation

By a decision of December 12, 2019, the Federal Supreme Court of Switzerland rejected the Russian Federation's application for the cancellation of international arbitration decision in favor of PJSC "Ukrnafta". This is stated in a message posted on the official website of the company.

"PJSC “Ukrnafta” expects that the Russian Federation will treat the final decision of the Swiss Supreme Court with respect and show civility in executing at least this decision," the statement said.

The judgment of the Supreme Court of Switzerland of December 12, 2019, is final and is not subject to appeal.

As we reported earlier, the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation has ordered Ukraine to pay compensation in the amount of 112 million dollars to Russian oil company TatNeft in the framework of the Ukrnafta case. This is stated in the case file, Interfax informed.

Thus, the court rejected the cassation appeal of Ukraine, which appealed against the decision of Arbitration Courts of the Stavropol and North Caucasus districts. At that time, Ukrainian side pointed to a violation of substantive and procedural law.

The Supreme Court considers that there are no grounds for reviewing the decisions.
