Tariffs for heating and water might increase due to gas prices hike in Ukraine, as Andriy Reva, the Ministry for Social Policy, told the journalists, 112 Ukraine reports.
He stressed that this forecast is not an official decision, it is just a preliminary conclusion.
“New gas tariffs come into force on November 1, 2018. This procedure requires revision of utility bills for heating and hot water. But it takes more time, as I know the legislation, they can be imposed no earlier than December 1… Given that around 90% of the tariffs for heating and hot water are the gas tariffs, according to my preliminary calculations, I ask you not to accept it as an official information, it should be 16%,” the Minister said.
Reportedly, on October 19, the Government decided to increase gas prices by 23,5% since November 1. An hour later, the IMF website informed that Ukraine and IMF concluded an agreement on a new stand-by program for $3,9 billion, which would replace the program expanded funding (EFF), approved in March 2015. It expires in March 2019.
The representatives of the Finance Ministry expect the IMF Board to approve the program will the end of 2018 if Ukraine fulfills all the agreements, including the budget adopted by the Verkhovna Rada which complies with the recommendations of the Fund.
