"Russian-Ukrainian gas talks have begun in Vienna in accordance with the protocol of December 20," Gazprom’s spokesman said.
Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation expects to sign gas transit agreement between Ukraine and the Russian Federation on the upcoming weekend. The corresponding statement was made by Russia’s Energy Minister Alexander Novak in an interview with RBC.
"In the last few weeks, Gazprom, Naftogaz and Operator of Ukraine's Gas Transportation System have been working intensively to prepare an inter-operator agreement setting out all the conditions for the interaction of the two gas transportation systems, as well as the transport contract. We are counting on our companies to finalize these documents this weekend," Novak said.
As we reported earlier, Deputy Prime Minister of Russian Federation Dmitry Kozak defined Gazprom's payment of three billion dollars in compensation to Naftogaz adjudged by Stockholm Arbitrage within gas agreement between Ukraine and Russia as "drop in the sea".
