Russian Gazprom finishes construction of TurkStream sea gas pipeline

Russian “Gazprom” has finished the construction of the sea part of the gas pipeline TurkStream as Reuters reported.

According to the news agency, the solemn ceremony of the finishing of this stage of the construction took place in Istanbul. Russian President Vladimir Putin and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan participated in it.

Putin noted that such projects do not aim against the interests of anybody and they are "just creative." According to him, the work that left will be concentrated on the ground.

It is expected that the gas pipeline will be launched until the end of 2019.

The TurkStream project, whose intergovernmental agreement between Turkey and Russia was signed on October 10, 2016 in Istanbul, will supply gas to Europe via Greece.

The project, announced by Putin during a December 2014 visit to Turkey, will carry gas from Russia under the Black Sea to Turkey's Thrace region.
