Russia takes out coal from Donbas and sells to Europe

The major exporter of the Ukrainian coal is Kurchenko’s company

Russia exported about 267 000 of tons of coal that were illegally taken out from the occupied regions of Donetsk and Luhansk to Europe in July. The data of Russian Railways and Federal Customs Service stated this as reported.

‘The major exporter of the Ukrainian coal is Gaz-Alliance Company that is under control of the oligarch Sergy Kurchenko. It exported more than 50 000 tons of the anthracite coal from the ports in July. The whole volume was illegally taken out by the South Ossetian Vneshtorgservis Company and later was re-executed by Gaz-Alliance company’, the message said.

Vneshtorgservis Company stopped to be registered in the way-bills of the Russian Railways as the importer of the coal from the temporarily occupied territories since July. However, the company continues to supply the coking coal and iron stone to occupied Donbas. Also, the company takes out the finished steel products.

Petroleum Capital Company also owned by Kurchenko exported 32 000 tons of coal that were taken out from Donbas. The purchasers of the coal were not defined.

Russian Anthracite Company exported about 34 000 tons of anthracite. Almost the whole volume was supplied to Hong Kong Grecoal Limited Company that is under control of the brothers Oleksandr and Sergy Melnychuk.

Coal Technologies Company that is co-owned by Oleksandr Melnychuk exported about 15 000 of tons of anthracite in July.

More than 29 000 tons of the Ukrainian anthracite were supplied to the Yorkland Merchants Limited that is registered in Hong Kong in July. The Russian Railways Logistics supplied 9 000 of tones from this volume to the offshore company.

Russian Trade House Anthracite that is under the Ukrainian sanctions exported more than 31 000 tons of coal from Russia. The whole volume was supplied to Carbon and Natural Resources Ltd. The Trade House Anthracite is registered by the citizen of Rostov Region Aleksandr Nosko.

More than 70% o the coal that is illegally taken out from occupied Donbas to Russia is exported by two companies connected with Oleksandr and Sergy Melnychuk. Oleksandr Melnychuk works as the Deputy Ministry of Energy in Luhansk People’s Republic and Sergy Melnychuk legally sells the coal in Ukraine.

Russia took out 940 000 tons of anthracite in the amount of 36 million of dollars and 95 000 of tons of other coal in the amount of eight million of dollars from occupied territories in 2016.
