Russia is ready to extend the transit gas contract in case they will not be able to conclude a new contract upon the termination of the old one. Head of the Ministry of Energy in Russia Alexander Novak, as RIA-Novosti reports. 

The contract extension is the backup. Novak also stated that all the sides are seeking to providing gas transit to the European Union through Ukraine and consultations go to plan.

Head of the Energy Ministry added that the Rusian Federation sees readiness in the direct gas supplies to Ukraine. According to his data, the next round of the trilateral consultations will happen in the end of November. 

It stands to mention that the termination of gas supplies and transit contracts, concluded between Ukraine and Russia, will terminate at the end of the current year. The previous political negotiations were on July 17, 2018 and on January 21, 2019.
