Steel Company ‘ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih’ (AMKR) that is a part of the transnational ArcelorMittal Group states that the role of the government authorities in the support of Ukrainian metallurgy is critically important. It mentions the defense of the inner market and promotion of the native rolled metal products at the foreign markets.
Deputy Director General of AMKR Volodymyr Tkachenko claimed this within International Metallurgy Forum on October 2 as Uaprom reported.
‘The aim of the government authorities is to defend the inner market and support the promotion of the native rolled metal products at the foreign markets because the global business struggle intensifies’, he said.
According to Tkachenko, Ukraine agreed on the zero rates for the import of the rolled metal products to its territory within the joining of the World Trade Organization.
‘We can import the metal product to Ukraine without problems. But the inner market should be defended and we need other tools for it’, he said.
At the same time, Tkachenko reported that AMKR got the support from the Ukrainian government, particularly in the form of the case on the armature in the US.
‘We actively take part in this investigation and got the support from the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade to prolong the case because we did not succeed to apply the documents in time’, he noticed.
The US Department of Trade announced on the implementation of the preliminary anti-dumping duties for the import of the rolled still made of carbonic and alloy-treated steel from Belarus, Russia and UAE but did not announce the similar decision for Italy, South Korea, South Africa, Spain, Turkey, Ukraine and the UK.
‘Metallurgy always was a driver of the industry and economy. It entailed all spheres and our economy was depended on the success of the Ukrainian metallurgy’, Tkachenko said.
