Between January and March 2018, Ukrainian businesses involved in car manufacturing made a total of 2,064 automobiles, which exceeds the quantity produced in the first quarter of 2017. In particular, the passenger vehicle segment increased its output by 57.7%, reaching a total of 1,768 passenger cars produced, the Ukrautoprom association has informed, Interfax-Ukraine reports.
According to the statistics published by the Autoprom association, all passenger vehicles were manufactured by PrJSC Eurocar. On the other hand, the quantity of commercial automobiles produced in the first three months of the current year dropped by 38% to a modest level of just 95 units. At the same time, bus output added 19% and reached 201 vehicles.
As reported earlier, the total car output rose by 71% year-over-year in the first two months of 2018.
When it comes to individual enterprises, Eurocar managed to produce the most vehicles within the first three months of the present year. What is worth pointing out is the Zaporizhzhya Automobile Plant (ZAZ), which, despite having produced no passenger vehicles within the period in question, managed to manufacture 81 commercial automobiles and 15 buses nonetheless. However, within the same period of 2017, the corporation assembled 153 commercial motor vehicles and just five buses.
The Zaporizhzhya Automobile Plant earlier announced its plans to opt out of manufacturing passenger vehicles this year.
The Cherkasy Bus Plant came first in terms of bus output. The enterprise produced 94 buses, improving the last year’s result by 34.3%. The company also made 14 commercial automobiles.
The Chernihiv Automobile Plant of the Etalon Corporation assembled 43 buses (35 last year), the Chasiv Yar Bus Plant made 46 units (28 a year ago), whereas the Bogdan Corporation produced only three buses.
What concerns the vehicle output of March alone, 773 cars were assembled by Ukrainian enterprises, a figure slightly above the result of March 2017.
