Chief Military Prosecutor's Office revealed the facts, which show that the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine caused the loss of more than 7 million dollars, the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine reports.
According to the investigation, the Ministry of Defense staff did not stipulate an obligatory condition for receiving appropriate compensation in 2017 (offset contract) for the total amount of over 7 million dollars while purchasing foreign-made communication equipment for defense purposes.
"These actions violate the requirements of the Law of Ukraine "On State Defense Order" and the Resolution on Procedure of concluding compensation (offset) contracts and types of compensation that may be granted under these agreements, approved by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine," the General Prosecutor's Office noted.
It is also reported that under these circumstances, officials of the Ministry of Defense acted contrary to the interests of the states and presumably for the purpose of getting improper advantage by one of the special experts.
Chief Military Prosecutor's Office registered criminal proceedings of the crime under Part 2 of Art. 364 (abuse of authority or office) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
As we reported earlier, General Director of Ukroboronprom defense state enterprise Aivaras Abromavičius stated that there would be no salary arrears at 15 Ukroboronprom enterprises out of 43.
In general, salary arrears owed to employees in 43 enterprises make approximately 18 million dollars. While the total salary debt is about 420 million dollars.
