Private companies to import 15 times more gas into Ukraine

The share of gas importers increased to 26% in 2016, comparing with 1% in 2014

The number of natural gas importers grew higher in Ukraine over the past two years. This is reported by the press-service of the NJSC NaftoGaz of Ukraine

Thus the share of the importers increased as well. Now it makes 26%, comparing with 1% in 2014.

Specifically, there are more than 20 private importers doing business in Ukraine, importing 2.9 billion cubic meters of natural gas in 2016. To compare, private importers have brought 0.2 billion cubic meters of gas in 2014. This equals to the yearly consumption rate of Bulgaria or Greece to compare.

Gas reform which started 2.5 years ago is aimed to make Ukrainian gas market more competitive and open. The more gas traders in the market, the higher is the competition, the better conditions get the citizens of Ukraine

According to the Ukrtransgaz, not only traders are buying gas from abroad, but some consumers as well.
