The High Anti-Corruption Court (HACC) has allowed an in absentia investigation into the former chairman of the board of PrivatBank, Oleksandr Dubilet. The press service of Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAPO) reports that.
"On October 28, 2021, the investigating judge of the HACC granted the request of the NABU detective, approved by the prosecutor of the SAPO, to grant permission for a special pre-trial investigation (in absentia) against the former chairman of JSC CB PrivatBank," the statement reads.
As it was reported on March 29, NABU, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine put Oleksandr Dubilet on the wanted list. The Privatbank's ex-chair of board of directors is a suspect in the embezzlement case. In early June, Ukraine's High Anti-Corruption Court arrested Dubilet in absentia.
In the same month, the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office sent an official request to Interpol to declare Oleksandr Dubilet wanted.
PrivatBank was nationalized in December 2016. It was declared insolvent. To save the financial institution, the state had to recapitalize PrivatBank by UAH 115 billion ($4.4 billion).
