President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky called on the MPs to gather for an extraordinary meeting on August 25 and support the draft law on increasing the minimum wage. The press service of the President's Office reports this.

"The President appealed to the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada, Dmytro Razumkov, with a request to hold an extraordinary session of parliament on August 25, after Ukraine's Independence Day, and urged MPs to support the presidential bill on increasing the minimum wage," the statement said.

It is noted that the increase in the minimum wage to $180 is the first stage. The second stage of this program will be an increase to $225 from 2021. Stage three will be taking place during 2021 - up to $250.

As we reported before, Minister of Health of Ukraine Maksym Stepanov considers the current level of salaries of doctors unacceptable - doctors should receive at least $700-800 per month.

"I believe that the minimum wage for a doctor should start from $700-800 - as long as we want to have professional doctors with decent working conditions, and then, we will be able to demand that they treat us well," Stepanov said.
