The World Bank claims that the pandemic of coronavirus may threaten 100 million people worldwide, Voice of America wrote.

"Up to 100 million people are likely to return to extreme poverty", the message says.

According to previous estimates of the bank, the ultimate poverty threatened 60 million, but the new calculations show that the figure could change to 70 to 100 million people.

At that, Malpass assumed that the number of potentially exposed people could grow if the pandemic carries on for a while or the overall epidemic situation in the world gets worse.
