President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko expressed gratitude to the Director of the International Monetary Fund Christine Lagarde during the phone call for her personal contribution in taking positive decision on the allocation of a billion dollar tranche to Ukraine. This was reported by the press service of the President.

The interlocutors discussed the state of implementation of structural reforms, in particular judicial reform, fight against corruption and implementation of the tax reform.

Lagarde confirmed support for the authorities' efforts to ensure macro-financial stability of the state and further progress of Ukraine on its way of necessary reforms. Separately, the IMF Managing Director noted the highly professional work of the Head of the National Bank of Ukraine Valeriya Gontareva and her contribution to fruitful cooperation with international financial organizations.

She also welcomed the launch in Ukraine of an open electronic VAT refund register.

Earlier it was reported that IMF Board of Directors approved $1 billion tranche for Ukraine, according to Poroshenko. President thinks that IMF’s decision is recognition of Ukrainian reforms.
