National joint stock company Naftogaz Ukraine managed to avoid the loss of 1.3 million U.S. dollars. That became possible thanks to the timely interference of the Department for Economic Protection of the National Police. The law enforcement agency left the respective message on their website.
An affiliated enterprise of NJSC Naftogaz conducted a public tender for purchase of heavy motor trucks. The winners were the companies that offered the lowest price by lots. That won the attention of the Department for Economic Protection. The agency’s operatives analyzed the deal and found out that the offered price is too overcharged; it means that making any further contracts with respective commercial structures would lead to overspending of the NJSC’s costs.
The law enforcers sent Naftogaz a warning letter, pointing out that there is a violation that could result in negative economic consequences. Naftogaz cancelled the purchases on the overestimated prices and announced a new tender. This time, the same companies offered much lower prices.
‘Thus, the Department for Economic Protection of the National Police of Ukraine prevented overspending of almost 36 million hryvnas (USD 1.3 mln) by Naftogaz Ukraine company,’ reads the message.
