Poland to export American gas to Ukraine for reduction of dependence on Russia

Poland will export the American gas to Ukraine for reduction of their dependence on the Russian Federation as EU today reported citing U.S. Energy Secretary Rick Perry.

“We’re helping Poland to reduce its dependence on Russian gas,” Perry said.

Besides, the Polish side also commented on future gas supplies.

“We will make every effort to diversify gas supplies to Ukraine, which is now completely dependent on Russian deliveries,” Piotr Naimski responsible for Poland’s energy infrastructure said.

He also added that Poland was preparing for the increase of the export of the gas to Ukraine from 1.5 billion cubic meters per year to 6 billion cubic meters in two years.

It was specified that Poland is already importing the American and it is less dependent on the Russian gas than Ukraine. Moreover, Poland pays about 25% less for American gas than it paid to Russia.

Poland pays around 25% less for U.S. LNG than it pays for Russian gas.

As we reported, German company RWE AG used the service of the gas storage in the customs warehouse regime in the territory of Ukraine.
