"Of the $680 million that have already been allocated from the Covid-19 Fund, only $117 million allocated to the Ministry of Health went directly to the needs of laboratory centers and hospitals," the statement said.
The remaining 85% of the funds were distributed among various ministries, but not for the fight against Covid-19.
For example, the Ministry of Social Policy got some $270 million for social protection of the population during restrictive quarantine measures. The Ministry of Economy agreed to $106 million to fill the Fund for Compulsory State Social Insurance against unemployment.
The list of ministries that agreed on the allocation of funds also included the Ministry of Internal Affairs, which agreed to allocate $99 million for salaries to police, Border Guards and the National Guards.
In addition to funds that have already been approved by the Cabinet of Ministers, there are many other requests from various authorities.
So, the Ministry of Social Policy is asking for $560 million for pensions, allowances and increases to pensions and covering the deficit of the Pension Fund, and the Ministry of Economy has asked for $330 million to fill the Compulsory State Social Insurance Fund. The Ministry of Health is asking for only $9 million, which they are going to spend on the professional development of doctors.
As we reported before, the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmygal stated that, as of July 1, $708,000 were allocated from the Covid-19 Fund. The fund amounts to $2.5 billion.
