It is noted that as of the morning, September 10, the gas pipeline is completed by 100%.
“During the morning briefing session at Gazprom, Chairman of the Management Committee Alexei Miller reported that today in the morning, at 08:45 at Moscow time, the construction of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline is finished,” the message says.
Due to the sanctions of the US, the construction of the gas pipeline was delayed for over 1.5 year, while it had to be finished at the end of 2019.
The works on the construction of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline started in 2018. The cost of the project is over dozens billions of euro. The construction of the pipeline was partially financed by Gazprom and by five European companies OMV, Wintershall Dea, Engie, Uniper and Shell.
Nord Stream 2 is the second gas pipeline in the Baltic Sea, which is due to supply gas to European countries. According to the plan, the gas pipeline should pass through the economic zones and territorial waters of five countries: Denmark (147 km), Germany (85 km), Russia (118 km ), Finland (374 km) and Sweden (510 km).
