New electricity market operates successfully, - Ukraine's PM

The new electricity market is successfully operating. The price of electricity has not increased. This was stated by Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman at a government meeting, reports the Ukrainian News agency.

"I confirm and note that there can not be a single price increase for commercial consumers, besides the one defined by the Commission regulating energy sphere. And we approved all the decisions of the Government about this. And the market began to function. And the price did not rise. And I know from many commercial consumers, that the price in many positions has even fallen," said Groysman.

The Prime Minister also noted that since July 1, the energy market operates within the limits of those price restrictions that were created by decisions of the government and the industry regulator.

The new electric energy market, which will operate in accordance with EU standards, was introduced on July 1, 2019, according to the Law of Ukraine "On the Electric Energy Market". In accordance with the law, the new model provides for the introduction of such segments as the market of bilateral contracts, the "day-ahead" market, the intra-day market, the balancing market. The introduction of the market is the obligation of Ukraine in the framework of the implementation of the Third Energy Package of the EU.
