At its meeting on Wednesday, the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine (NSDC) endorsed “The Principal Indicators of the State Defense Order for 2018-2020”, Interfax-Ukraine reports.
“The National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine has reviewed and endorsed the “Principal Indicators of the State Defense Order for 2018-2020”. The draft of the main indicators of the state defense order for 2018-2020 submitted to the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine is based on the funding allocated in Ukraine’s state budget for this year, as well as on the indicators of the next two years described in the main guidelines of the budget policy for 2018-2020,” the Council’s press service informed, Interfax-Ukraine reports.
The priority areas of the state defense order in 2018 are supposed to be the provision of modern missile and armored vehicles, means of electronic warfare air defense, drones, anti-sniper systems to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Our defense sector is already capable of performing large-scale and complex programs,” the Council’s Secretary Oleksandr Turchynov said, adding that the funding of the state defense order is expected to grow by 37% to reach $745 million.
Under the state defense order, in 2017, some 2,500 items of weaponry, military equipment and special items, as well as over 27,000 pieces of ammunition and missiles were delivered to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
