The opening of envelopes with price offers from mobile communication operators for the introduction of 4G connection in Ukraine took place at 10:00 am on Wednesday, 31 January 2018 in Kyiv, Interfax-Ukraine reports.
According to Interfax-Ukraine, lifecell purchased two lots for 30 MHz for $32.4 million, Kyivstar bought three lots for 30 MHz for $32.61 million, whereas Vodafone-Ukraine paid a total of $22.46 million for two lots for 20 MHz range.
The final purchase prices exceeded the starting prices by a total of $6.02 million.
President of Kyivstar Petro Chernyshov, CEO of lifecell Ismet Yazici and Vodafone-Ukraine’s Corporate Governance Director Oleh Prozhyvalsky participated in the tender by voice on behalf of the carriers.
Earlier, at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Ukraine’s President Petro Poroshenko spoke about the creation of the 4G network in Ukraine. “When I was elected president, Ukraine did not have 3G connection due to corruption. Shortly, we are going to open the envelope for 4G connection. We have many companies willing to invest in it,” he said during a meeting with investors on Thursday, 25 January.
