The National Bank of Ukraine will issue coins by the value of five hryvnias (the country's national currency). Yakiv Smoliy, the Head of the Bank said so at a briefing on Thursday.
"Currently, I'm not ready to say when [the coins by value of] five hryvnias are [supposed to be] issued. But I guess, one could expect them to appear in the autumn.
Previously, the National Bank of Ukraine decided to present five-hryvnia coins in 2019; the ten-hryvnas coins are to be presented in 2020.
Smoily reported that the National Bank already ceased to issue the banknotes by the value of one and two hryvnias. They will be gradually withdrawn from the turnover and replaced with the coins.
