Naftogaz revealed the names of the Ukrainian representatives at the trilateral gas talks between Ukraine, Russia and the EU in Brussels on September 19 as UNN reported.
“Particularly, the participation of Chairman of Board of Naftogaz Andriy Kobolev, Executive Director Yuriy Vitrenko, Head of Ukraine’s Gas Transporting System Operator Serhiy Makohon and Vice President of Ukrtransgas Pavlo Stanchak is expected,” Naftogaz reported.
Besides, the company noted that they will defend “the necessity to conclude new long-term contracts, which would completely correspond to the demands of the Ukrainian and European legislation”.
As we reported, the trilateral talks on the supplies and transit of the Russian gas through Ukraine to the EU will take place on September 19 in Brussels.
Earlier it was reported that the current contract between Naftogaz and Gazprom for the transit of Russian gas through Ukraine ends on December 31, 2019. Therefore, on January 1, 2020, the parties must conclude a new agreement.
On January 21, 2019, the trilateral gas talks took place in Brussels. Then Russia reported that it is ready to extend the acting contracts on gas transit after 2019. Then Foreign Minister of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin stated that the return of the contracts on Russian gas transit is impossible.
In April 2019, European Commission Vice President Maros Sefcovic reported that another round of the trilateral gas talks is planned for the end of May, after the election of the new president of Ukraine.
In June 2019, Ukraine, Russia, and the European Commission have agreed to hold the trilateral negotiations on the Russian gas transit across Ukraine's territory in September 2019.
